Retail Head Office and District-based roles
Our Retail Head Office team in High Wycombe and our District-based teams are both driven by results, and dedicated to making things as easy as possible for customers and stores alike. Joining either of these teams you’ll play a crucial role in supporting the smooth-running of the business.
Business Rewards
We run a loyalty card scheme for our customers. To that end, our Business Rewards team is there to support customers and stores with any rewards-related queries.
Finance
Driving the business and minding the purse strings is essential to any successful operation. And Staples is no exception. That’s why we only want the finest minds for the three areas of our Finance team:
- Financial Planning and Analysis – this area supports the business with commercial analysis, forecasting and budgeting and reporting.
- Financial Accounting and Payroll – this area produces the company’s accounts, takes responsibility for statutory tax reporting, validates our sales and controls our cash and ensures our associates are paid on time, every time.
- Accounts Payable – this area manages the processing of invoices and co-ordinates the payment of our suppliers.
Human Resources
Things run so smoothly at Staples that you could be forgiven for thinking our business is run by higher beings. But the truth is, it’s all down to our people. They’re the ones who keep our customers happy, and help us bring easy to life. And that’s why we insist on looking after them so well. Our central based HR team take care of that side of things, by driving core HR process and policy and working in partnership with line managers to provide support and guidance for Head Office and District-based teams. Our Regional based team works in partnership with Operations Directors, District Managers and Store Management teams to provide support and guidance for our store teams.
Information Systems
Information Systems (IS) are crucial to the running and ongoing resilience of our organisation. Our field IS team support, maintain and upgrade our stores systems ensuring that our stores can focus on what they do best – making sure each and every customer leaves with a satisfied smile on their face. Our Head Office based IS team keep our key IS platforms up and running and provide end-user support via a helpdesk system.
Loss Prevention
We are proud of our world-class shrinkage figure. In fact, we think it could be one of the best in the galaxy. And it’s all thanks to our Loss Prevention team who work tirelessly to keep us focused on this key business measure. They do this through a range of activities including an annual audit programme, innovative property and product security solutions, specialist store training as well as internal and external investigations.
Marketing
We’ve already enlightened millions about the world of Staples. But it can’t hurt to tell people a little more. That’s the job of our Marketing team. Focused on building our brand through press and TV advertising, they get under the skin of customers and help us make the shopping experience at Staples even better. They’re also responsible for making it easy for customers in-store through clear signage and product information sheets.
Merchandising
Our Merchandising team consists of:
- Merchandising Operations – this team manage the pricing structure for our products, as well as planning for our seasonal promotions to make it as seamless and easy as possible for our stores to implement new promotions. Planning the layout and space assigned to products in-store also falls into their to-do list.
- Category teams – these are the people who source our products and services to sell in our stores. This encompasses products and services that come under the areas of our Copy and Print Centre, Technology, Office Supplies and Furniture.
Operations
Our stores are split into two regions. Each region is under the leadership of an Operations Director. Our team of eight District Managers work closely with store General Managers to ensure we deliver outstanding customer service in every store. We believe this sets us apart from our competitors. We’re passionate about delivering consistent high standards of presentation and customer care and our teams of associates work tirelessly to provide products and services that meet our customers’ needs and consistently exceed their expectations.
Operations Support
Our Operations Support team control the volume and content of data and communications between our Store and Head Office teams. As the customer focused conduit between our store and head office teams they ensure all communication to stores is ‘retail ready’ and ‘EASY’ for both our customers and associates. They also manage all our non-trade procurement such as the associate uniform.
Real Estate
Real Estate is responsible for all property matters, including initial identification, acquisition and maintenance and, on occasion, disposal. This could involve construction, subdivision or relocation, together with internal signage, general maintenance and property administration and management, including rent reviews, service charges and business rates.
Regional Sales and Service
Working with our Regional Management team, these associates consult with our store managers across two regions, to build their store profitability, specifically in our fast-paced and growing Copy & Print business.
Supply Chain Planning
Our Supply Chain team work closely with both our Merchandising and Distribution teams to ensure our inventory is always in the right place at the right time. Such is their talent, they do this while minimising the investment in inventory, the risk of discontinued stock and the end-to-end supply cost.
